Candao is building its own blockchain (CDO-Chain) to serve as the mother chain for the protocol, enhancing the blockchain infrastructure by handling all transaction types related to data ownership, asset management, and user activities in the protocol. The CDO-Chain will be built as a L2 using optimistic rollup technology, which provides a scalable and efficient solution while maintaining compatibility with EVM based assets.
The CDO-Chain will interact with multiple blockchain ecosystems by using oracles to interconnect and synchronize data, transactions, and asset ownership across various chains. Here’s how it operates:
Mother Chain Role: The CDO-Chain acts as the main hub for all transactions related to data ownership, value transfers, and user engagement. All key components of the Candao ecosystem such as token ownership, social scoring, and data permissions will be stored and recorded on the CDO-Chain, ensuring a single source of truth for all interactions.
Interaction with Other Blockchains: CDO-Chain’s blockchain-agnostic approach allows it to connect with external blockchain networks (such as BNB, Ethereum, and others). This is achieved through the use of oracles and bridges, which serve as the link between CDO-Chain and other ecosystems. Oracles will allow real-time data transfers between chains, enabling a seamless exchange of value and ownership records Bridges will allow the migration of assets across chains.
Smart Contracts and Automation: Smart contracts on CDO-Chain will manage everything from licensing agreements to data ownership transfers. These contracts will be executed automatically, based on conditions defined by DAOs and other stakeholders. The use of optimistic rollup technology at Layer 2 ensures that these transactions are fast, cost-effective, and scalable.
The P2P decentralized cloud network will work in close synchronization with the CDO-Chain. While the P2P network manages the actual storage and retrieval of data (such as intellectual property files or contracts), the CDO-Chain handles the ownership, permissions, and licensing rules tied to this data.
Data Ownership and Permissions: When users upload data to the P2P network, their ownership rights are represented as tokens on the CDO-Chain. The chain also manages who has permission to access or use this data, whether it be a personal document, a business asset, or intellectual property.
Smart Contract Execution: Smart contracts on the CDO-Chain manage how the data stored in the P2P network is used. For instance, if a DAO decides to license a digital asset, the CDO-Chain smart contract will automatically update the permissions in the P2P Cloud system, granting access to the licensee. Ownership, asset utilization and access is tightly coupled between the CDO-Chain and the P2P cloud network.
Immutable Records: The CDO-Chain will record every interaction with the P2P network whether it’s an ownership change, data access request, or licensing agreement creating an immutable ledger that guarantees transparency and traceability for all transactions. ZK proofs will allow auditability for all actions without compromising privacy.
One of the defining features of CDO-Chain is the tracking and storage of social scoring, user activities, web3 followers, friends, contributions, business activities and other user interactions directly on the blockchain. This feature ensures that all user engagement within the Candao ecosystem is both transparent and verifiable, providing a decentralized social graph.
Users in Candao mutually own their relationships, e.g. friends and followers. Unlike traditional social platforms where relationships are managed by a central entity, in Candao, users maintain full control over, ensuring that this value is permanently tied to their identity on the blockchain.
Ownership and Transferability: Users mutually own their relationships, represented as soul-bound tokens on CDO-Chain. This ownership allows them to monetize their network within the Multirole Marketplace. For example, influencers can offer their follower base to brands or businesses for targeted promotions without intermediaries, with all transactions secured and recorded on CDO-Chain.
Web3 Social Graph: The blockchain records not only followers but also other roles users play in the Multirole Marketplace, creating a decentralized and transparent Web3 social graph that values various types of achievements, not just fame. This graph is built upon social scoring, forming the foundation of user influence and reputation within the Candao ecosystem.
Security and Privacy: Since user activities are secured on the blockchain, users retain control over how their data is accessed and utilized. Permissions for third-party access, such as businesses looking to collaborate with influencers, are governed through smart contracts and the business engine, ensuring that data cannot be exploited without the owner’s explicit consent.
Cross-Application Interoperability: If users own their data and relationships through private keys, it means they have full control over them. This ownership enables seamless interoperability across applications connected to the Candao Protocol. In the future, as data can be bridged between different EVM compatible chains, users’ relationships and data will remain accessible across all decentralized applications (dApps), providing a unified and sovereign user experience across the Web3 ecosystem, not only within databases of some big companies.
CDO-Chain is based on Ethereum Layer 2 optimistic rollup technology, which provides scalability while maintaining the security and decentralization of the underlying EVM network. This technology allows the chain to process a high volume of transactions at a fraction of the cost, which is crucial for handling large-scale interactions such as:
High-Volume Data Ownership Transactions: Optimistic rollups enable rapid processing of ownership changes for tokenized assets and data.
Cost Efficiency: Layer 2 scaling drastically reduces the cost per transaction, making CDO-Chain financially sustainable as the platform grows.
Future-Proof: Optimistic rollup technology ensures that the CDO-Chain can scale in the future, capable of handling millions of users and an exponential increase in data transactions without compromising speed or security.
A significant feature of CDO-Chain is its ability to integrate with multiple blockchains through the use of oracles and bridges. Oracles provide a reliable way to fetch and verify off-chain data and connect the CDO-Chain with other ecosystems. This allows for:
Seamless Asset Transfers: Users can move assets (such as tokenized IP or digital tools) between CDO-Chain and other blockchain networks without losing ownership rights or permissions.
Interoperable Data Layers: The two-way oracles enable CDO-Chain to fetch and verify external data, such as real-time asset pricing or external governance votes, and execute decisions accordingly.
Enhanced Market Participation: By allowing cross-chain transactions, CDO-Chain opens up new opportunities for collaboration and participation in other decentralized ecosystems.
One important future upgrade for CDO-Chain (CDO-Chain) will be the integration of zk-SNARKs (Zero-Knowledge Succinct Non-Interactive Arguments of Knowledge) in the near future. This will enable advanced privacy features across the platform, particularly for blockchain transactions and social media activities where users might want to maintain confidentiality over certain data, interactions, or ownership records.
Why zk-SNARKs for Privacy and Data Security?
zk-SNARKs allow for zero-knowledge proofs, meaning users can verify information (such as ownership of assets or the validity of a transaction) without revealing the specific details of that information. This is crucial for maintaining privacy while interacting with decentralized systems. For example, users can perform transactions or interact with social media features like owning Web3 friends or contributing to different businesses without revealing their full transaction details to the public.
The inclusion of zk-SNARKs will allow for:
Private Transactions: Ensuring that transaction details between parties are confidential and private while still being validated on the blockchain.
Privacy in Social Interactions: Certain social media activities, such as the number of a users followers or the total value of their Web3 assets, can be kept private while still verifiable for trust and validation purposes.
Enhanced Data Ownership: Users will maintain full control of their data, including personal interactions and asset holdings, while providing a layer of privacy that public blockchains alone do not fully support.
Combining zk-SNARKs with CDO-Chain
As CDO-Chain evolves, integrating zk-SNARKs will allow for both public accountability and private transactions, ensuring that users can choose what information to reveal and what to keep confidential. This will be particularly relevant in scenarios involving encrypted private data storage on the P2P network or when managing tokenized assets and social media engagements. The ZK oracle system will play a key role in ensuring that the necessary privacy and security standards are upheld while enabling cross-chain interactions.
